Outdoors - Sweet Stampin'

Good morning ladies and gents,

Another Saturday, another Sweet Stampin' challenge. This week the theme is Outdoors, and we're sponsored by the fab All Dressed up!

I got to play with the super fun image Summer Fayre, and as it is such a beautiful detailed image, I decided to leave it about as CAS as it comes!

The background paper is a LOTV, and I coloured the image to match with my Promarkers. There's some pretty sparkle on some of the bunting and cupcakes too, but you know how that goes with photographs!

I hope you'll go take a peek at what my fellow Sweeties have been up to, and then come and play along!

Have a fantastic weekend!

Summer of Creative Chemistry - Week 7

And here's my last tag of the morning.

This week's challenge at Summer of Creative Chemistry was to use alcohol inks, and I opted for the "Faded Layers" technique. (mostly out of necessity, I admit, as I've not been able to get hold of any metallic mixatives yet!)

I did very much enjoy this technique though, and the result looks so very different from Distress products, which makes for a change, I guess, lol.

And as I used this lovely stamp from the Artistic Outpost "Gatsby" set, I'll take it to play along at Artistic Outpost too.

That's it from me this morning. Hope you all have a most fantabulous day!

12 Tags of 2016 - July

Hi all,

Back with my second tag of the day, this time the July tag for 12 Tags of 2016.

This tag was pretty much inspired by my daughter's oldest friend. His name is Cuddles, also known as Mr. Pink, and these days Mr. Grey, as he has been very well loved these past 15 years!

I have to admit I'm still very much out of my comfort zone where water colouring is concerned, But I'm getting there, slowly!

So, off to play along at 12 tags of 2016, and I'll be back shortly with my third and final tag of the morning!

More tags

Hi all,

I had another mini tag spree yesterday and thought I'd come drop off the results.

My first tag is one I made for the Go Tag Thursday challenge. I started by colouring my tag with Distress inks, then covered with tissue paper. Some crackle paste and my latest "toy" - Dylusions paints - came next, and finally an Artistic outpost stamp and sentiment (from the "A Lovely Day" set).
The theme is supposed to be Flower Power, so I added a lovely blue flower (and of course the girl in the stamp is holding flowers too!)

A little different from my usual, but lots of fun to play with my new paints!

I'll take it to play along at Artistic Outpost too.

Be back shortly with the next tag!

Calling all crafters!

Hello ladies and gents.

I'm here to ask you all if you would be willing to help right a terrible wrong. The fate of handmade items everywhere hangs in the balance!

Ok, maybe not quite as dramatic as all that, but now I have your attention, I shall explain, lol.

In my parents' village (Ballater, in the north-east of Scotland, near Balmoral Castle), the Royal Mail powers-that-be decided they wanted to cut some costs (How else will they be able to afford the CEO's measly £1.5 million payout..?), and after moving the post office from it's own dedicated building to a 4ft counter in the co-op, they decided that wasn't anywhere near enough saving.
So what did they do?

They decided to close the sorting office.

Where do the posties now sort the mail, you may ask? Well, they are forced to sort the mail in a public car park. Now, this is Scotland, not Hawaii. It's currently July - the height of summer - and they've had two dry days so far this month. Imagine what December is going to be like? Now, aside from the fact that having the mail sitting outside to get blown away or soaked (which it has, regularly, according to my mum), it's disgusting to ask the postal workers to work under these conditions, without a roof, or even a bathroom!
Not to mention that any Tom, Dick or Angus is perfectly within their rights to be wandering through said car park at any time, which of course presents a real security risk. Mail goes missing often enough as is, without tempting the more unsavoury characters to try and help it along!

Anyway, as you can understand, this affects not only the people of Ballater and surrounding areas, but also those people sending them mail (like me, or anyone who wants to send Her Majesty a letter at Balmoral, lol).

So now that I've bored you with my endless waffle, I would like to ask if you ladies and gents would be willing to sign this petition, protesting the situation, in the hopes that they may take notice and take steps to rectify the situation.

Many thank yous.

Focus on the sentiment - Sweet Stampin'

Hi all,

Back to my regular week for posting some Sweet Stampin' inspiration, and this time we're looking for you to Focus on the sentiment.

I always enjoy this challenge, and I picked one of my favourite sentiments to use this time.

It's not just me, is it? One simply has to love Audrey Hepburn. Is there really anyone out there that doesn't?

The stamp is of course LOTV, and the papers My Mind's Eye. Such a pretty pad, and I'm starting to run low. Noooooooo!

Hope everyone is well. All is good on this end, apart from a very unreliable internet connection these past few days. Our new "upgrade" is anything but!

Have a fantabulous day!

Summer/Holiday destination - Sweet Stampin' DT

Hi all,

Yes, I know I'm on the wrong week for Sweet Stampin' again, but when I saw how gorgeous the papers from sponsor Michele R Designs were, I simply had to play along with team Abi again this week. The theme  is summer/holiday destination, and when I think of summer, I think of the seaside and all things nautical.
This is what I made:

Aren't those papers gorgeous?

I hope you'll come and play with us. Just remember to stamp!

Have a fantabulous weekend!

July Challenge - Altered Eclectics

Hello again,

Yep, second post of the morning, as the 1st also means a new challenge at Altered Eclectics!

This month I decided to prettify an old wooden box that was donated at work and I rescued from certain doom (i.e. being thrown in the bin by people who just don't "get it" lol).
I needed somewhere to put my completed tags, and this was perfect!

I adore that lovely tree by Fernli Designs. It's one of my favourite shapes they do (and must order more, as I'm down to the last one!)
I used those lovely Chatsworth papers again. Naturally, I decorated the inside too.

The lace in the lid is tightly fastened at the sides, but not in the middle, so can be used to store things in too.

And that's my project. hope you like it, and hope you'll come play with us!

Have a fantabulous day!

July challenge - Rhedd's Creative Spirit

Hi all,

Greetings from a wet and miserable Leeds. I thought it was meant to be summer!?

Oh well, it's the first of the month, which always cheers me up, as it's time for a new challenge at Rhedd's Creative spirit.

I decided to alter another MDF word for this one. I chose "Love" this time.

As you can see, I used an obscene amount of flowers on this one. Believe it or not, when I started out I didn't intend to use a single one! But it kinda happened that way, much to the joy of my daughter, who immediately staked a claim on this one. She's becoming a real girly girl these days, lol.

Your turn. As always Anything altered art goes. We look forward to seeing your makes! x

Back in a minute with my second post.
