Flights of Fancy - The Crafting Cafe DT

Morning all!

I have a somewhat cheeky card for you this morning for this month's challenge over at The Crafting Cafe. The theme is Flights of Fancy, which I think could have many interpretations.

My husband, who is approaching the ripe old age *cough* of 42, is often teased by our youngsters about how terribly old he is. It is a running joke in our household that dad is in fact 65 million years old (he used to have a pet dinosaur, you know...) and hubby plays along with good cheer, regaling them with stories from over the millennia. If he is to be believed he is responsible for many things, both good (he invented the first language, because the grunts of the Neanderthals were getting too confusing) and bad (he's lost count of the amount of earthquakes he's caused after eating sprouts and beans!).

So when I saw the images provided for us by our fab sponsor Doctor Digi's House of stamps, there was one in particular that stood out, because it fit so perfectly with out little running family joke.

This was the result:

So yes, a little cheeky really, but I know hubby will appreciate the joke, and the kids think it's hilarious! It's not his birthday for another 2 months, but I really like being ahead, lol.

Hope you'll find the time to play along with us this month. There's still a week left!

Hope to do some further catching up with you all tomorrow, until then, have a fantabulous time.

April tag

Hi all,

Just a quick stop to drop off my April tag for 12 tags of 2015.
I actually didn't have time to craft today at all, but had to make time, as I had a very bizarre dream last night in which I happened to meet Sir Tim while stranded in an airport somewhere, lol. Needless to say, it meant I simply had to take that as a sign that I needed to get cracking on this month's tag!

I had some challenges to overcome, such as not having any Distress markers (I used ink from the pads instead) and not actually having done any water-colouring before. Oh, and word-dies aren't evident much in my stash either... Naturally all these things will need to be remedied soon. Hehe.

But you know what? I actually rather like how my tag turned out in the end.

I may even consider giving this watercolour lark another go sometime...

Right, bed time for me. Hope your Monday is as non-painful as possible for you. I have work in the morning, but will hopefully be able to swing by some blogs in the evening.

Have a great one!

Anything but a card - Sweet Stampin' DT

Good morning everyone!

So sorry I haven't been around. After Scotland and a bout of the lurgy, my computer has decided to play silly beggars with me, and doesn't seem to want to cooperate. Technology, eh? lol.

Anyways, there is something more fun to share today, and that is the new challenge at Sweet Stampin'. The theme is one of my favourites... Anything but a card.

For my ABAC, I decided I'd CASE myself, as I'd made a kraft and teal mini album before, and I wanted a similar one in pink. And this was the result:

As you can see, plenty of photo mats and some space for journalling too!  The papers and journalling stamps are of course LOTV and I used a selection of mulberry blooms (coloured to suit) and flower punches.

I hope you'll come and play along with us. I'm really looking forward to seeing what you'll all come up with!

Have a fantabulous day!

Paper piecing - Sweet Stampin' DT

Good morning folks!

Just me swinging by to tell you the new challenge at Sweet Stampin' this week is paper piecing. I always love this theme, don't you?

I looked for a suitable paper in my scraps, and found a lovely little snippet which was perfect for using with this Sassy Cheryl stamp.

I teamed it up with some left-over LOTV paper snippets and contrasting hot pink card and ribbon. add a few gems and there she is!

Hope you'll all find a little time to play along!

In the meantime, have a fabulous easter, and see you in a few days!

April Challenge - Rhedd's Creative Spirit DT

And hello again!

I'm back with my DT piece for the April Challenge at Rhedd's Creative Spirit, and this month I decided to do a canvas, which was inspired by my fellow teamie, the fabulously talented Elaine.
She did a gorgeous metallic-look canvas over a year ago (before I'd even *looked* at a canvas in that way, lol) and was kind enough to give me a whole load of hints and tips to help me on my way.

And this (finally!) was the result:

Forgive my lack of adequate photography skills, lol.

I had originally used a picture in the centre of the canvas, but decided I didn't like it, do I used a set of alphabet dies to spell out a nice sentiment from gold mirri card instead.
This was a really great way to use up lots of bits and pieces, and especially those in colours I wasn't fond of! I can definitely see me making more such in the future.

Well, that's it from me for today, but don't forget to see what the rest of the team have been up to, and if you fancy it, why not come and play along? As always it's anything altered art goes (seriously guys, no cards please! There's always one... lol)

Have a fantabulous day!

Colour Palette - Buckwells Crafty Challenge DT

Good morning all, my first post today is for Buckwells Crafty challenge, where we have a gorgeous colour palette to play with in this month's challenge!

Isn't it pretty?

I decided to use all the colours on a fabulous image from Sponsor Lacy Sunshine and went with a super CAScard!

Apart from the pink mat, the only thing I did was heat emboss the sentiment. It's rather more CAS than my usual, but I do try to be brave and give it a whirl from time to time, lol.

I hope you'll all find the time to go take a peek at my fellow teamies' creations, and then why not come and have a go too?

I'll be back in an hour!
